5 of 5 DA Friendly Packaging. October 30, 2017
Reviewer: Greg Evans, DDS from Fort Collins, CO
Most of the time, being a pediatric dentist in Fort Collins is a breeze.  Sometimes it's not as easy, and one of those times was last week.  We had cherubic 3 year old back by himself for a large composite filling and a stainless steel crown.  Crowns are often necessary in children with large cavities because the baby tooth is not large enough to support a filling and keep its strength. For a three year old who has to keep a first primary molar until age 10, that's a lot to ask of a dental material and why stainless steel crowns are ideal.
Anyway, back to the kiddo.  He was doing well on Nitrous Oxide after his two injections. The prep for the filling went quickly and easily.  When we placed the isolation he was less happy, and the band and wedge made him want to abruptly grab those with little fingers.  Ever work on a wiggly little boy with no neck already sweaty from the play room? The life of a pediatric dentist, right?  Thank goodness the crown prep went quickly on #S, but the whole distal portion of the tooth was gone and we needed to be DONE. That's when we pulled out the Aderec crowns, "D3, no D4, wait that's the wrong side, S4." If you are a pediatric DA right now, you are rolling your eyes.  Sara handed me the S4, we tried it on, and it fit great. I like those crowns because they are festooned like I would do it by hand, a little at the bottom so the flex and snap, not the entire interproximal rounded.  I used a Howe's to narrow it up a bit, one crimp on the buccal just for habit, and that crown popped on with a firm thumb.  Of course my little guy did not congratulate me on the speed and accuracy of the fit; may have been the taste of the glue. But hey.

The packaging of the Aderec crowns is DA friendly. The educational material look great for parents.  I like the fit, and the prices are competitive with the big companies.  I am a little stand-alone office, but we go out of our way to help families.  I feel the Aderec folks are on our side in that regard, so that's why I buy from them.  In this age where it seems I have fewer, choices, it's nice to have new choice I like!  If you would like to talk further about any aspect in this blog.
